Playlist #51

1. Pyramids - Frank Ocean (More so the second half of this song. Experimental R&B at its finest.)
2. Amok (entire album) - Atoms for Peace (Sounds like a Thom Yorke solo album rather than the work of a supergroup, but awesome, nonetheless.)
3. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye

5. Wildfire - SBTRKT Ft. Yukimi Nagano
6. Harmonix - Surfer Blood

Playlist #50

1. Eclipse/Blue - Nosaj Thing Ft. Kazu Makino [The Kazu Makino features continue (RE: "In Vertigo" - Beach Fossils) with this absolute gem of a song. Beautiful video too.]
2. Aquarium - Nosaj Thing ("Eclipse/Blue" really got me back into Nosaj Thing these past few weeks. Who could forget this track, made famous by Cudi years back.)
3. Glue - Nosaj Thing
4. Snap - Nosaj Thing
5. Fog - Nosaj Thing
6. Us - Nosaj Thing
7. Voices - Nosaj Thing
8. Givin' No Fucks - Trinidad James (Samples the above song and does not disappoint. The beat is simple as fuck: pretty much a loop of the first 3 seconds of "Voices" with a standard 808 beat behind it. But sometimes we find potency in simplicity and blah blah blah yeah.)
9. $outh$ide - Trinidad James Ft. Fortie Bowie (Hazy yet upbeat; a dirty south "Gas Drawls". Some old school southern rap shit. Some lazily sway your head while slouched down on a couch with a Cheeto hanging out of your mouth shit.)
10. Land of Lords - The Underachievers (Not sure if I mentioned this before, but I saw these dudes at the Low End Theory a month or two ago. Got around to downloading Indigoism which dropped a few weeks back. Not too bad. Good sampling of "Montara" on this song.)
11. Leopard Shepard - The Underachievers
12. Sclera - Kool A.D.
13. Electric Feel - MGMT (Heard some MGMT at a hipster coffee shop, went home, and...felt like listening to some MGMT.)
14. Congratulations - MGMT
15. Siberian Breaks - MGMT (I have a pretty short attention span, even when it comes to music. So being that this song is 12:10 long, I cut it up on Wavepad, and put the parts that I like on my iTunes. That is how I operate. Oh look, a shoe!)
16. Mathematics - Mos Def (Classic. This song is like my Cultural Studies class in rap form.)
17. Plucking Daisies - PackFM (In commemoration of Singles Awareness Day.)
18. Sorry For The Delay - Grizzly Bear (Pretty sure this one was on a playlist from a few weeks ago. Oh well, it's a good song.)
19. Pink Love - Blonde Redhead (Those Kazu Makino features inspired me to listen to Blonde Redhead, which I haven't done in a while. This song in particular has forever been my favorite.)
20. Capricornus - Austin Peralta (Some amazing, piano-driven jazz fo yo azz.)
21. The Underwater Mountain Odyssey - Austin Peralta
22. Ode to Love - Austin Peralta (R.I.P. Austin Peralta, age 22)
23. Camel (Nosaj Thing Remix) - Flying Lotus

Playlist #49

1. Shadow - Wild Nothing
2. Midnight Song - Wild Nothing
3. Only Heather - Wild Nothing
4. Disappear Always - Wild Nothing
5. The Blue Dress - Wild Nothing
6. BEACH FOSSILS [Pretty much everything they've done so far (Beach Fossils, What a Pleasure EP, Clash the Truth). I found out about them through DIIV's (thanks, Kevin for recommending these guys) Wikipedia page, and I'm absolutely glad that I did. They're not out-of-this-world amazing or anything of the sort, but I haven't been able to stop listening to them for the past few days. They have a fairly consistent sound; they're somewhat like a dream pop version of The Drums. They also remind me of post-punk/New Wave bands like The Wake (in fact, they've released a cover of "Plastic Flowers") and Orange Juice as well. Standout tracks include: "Calyer", "Generational Synthetic", and "In Vertigo" (which features Kazu Makino of Blonde Redhead; one of my absolute favorite vocalists of any genre, all mesmerizin' and shit). Overall, mellow and catchy, for the lack of better terms.
7. The SinKing - Crystal Stilts
8. Verdant Gaze - Crystal Stilts
9. Departure - Crystal Stilts (Once again, shout out to Kevin for showing me this song. After hearing it, I was hoping for the rest of the album to be an Unknown Pleasures Jr. But to my dismay, it wasn't quite that. Still worth a listen though. It's more post-punk as opposed to post-punk revival, which you wouldn't expect in this decade, so that's refreshing.)
10. Oshin - DIIV (entire album) (Pretty similar to Beach Fossils, which makes sense considering that the dude who started DIIV is also a Beach Fossils guitarist. A little more dream pop than Beach fossils, however.)
11. Seventeen - Youth Lagoon [Found out about Youth Lagoon after watching the video for Inuition's "Imagining" and learning where the song's sample came from (great, heartfelt song by the way). Youth Lagoon's music is minimalist, hypnotic, and has an ethereal quality to it. In other words, his music visualized is some hipster vagabond dude exploring the forest, washing his face in the river, and pondering about life and metaphysics and shit.)
12. Cannons - Youth Lagoon
13. only tomorrow - My Bloody Valentine [Loveless is one of my favorite albums and I was excited when they dropped this album out of the blue (which is funny, because the album cover is blue...lol?), 22 years after Loveless. Being that the many comedians and Twitter personalities that I follow are like 30's+, my feed went crazy when it dropped because these people have actually waited for a very long time, so I can't even imagine their excitement. Anyway, I was very happy to hear that they've pretty much kept absolutely true to their sound. Shoegazey as fuck since '88.)
14. who sees you - My Bloody Valentine
15. if i am - My Bloody Valentine
16. Fastlane - The Internet
17. Resurrection (DJ Honda Remix) - Common
18. Traveling Man - Mos Def & DJ Honda
